Want!

Adorable hard boiled egg molds, from Japan, the center of the world’s cuteness.

Ringback tones

Part of me really wants to make “Working Class Hero” my new ringback tone. :) But, then, I think that my Very Zealous callers might not appreciate it, if they know the song.

(My current RBT is “Hero” by Enrique Inglesias, for the opposite effect with the Very Zealous.)

Products I Can’t Live Without: LabelOnce Labels & Eraser

LabelOnce Erasable Labels

Using LabelOnce labels, you can label anything and not have to worry if your use for that thing changes. I have labelled power outlets, light switches, file drawers, jewelry drawers, plastic bins, and storage canisters. The labels erase easily, and they work with any permanent marker, not just the one included in the set. I bought a set of 20 multi-colored fine tip Sharpies to use with my labels, and I keep labels, eraser, and pens in a pencil pouch ready to go for any organizing need. Overall, this is just one of those things that I use on a day-to-day basis that I would cry over if it went away.

As if that weren’t enough, there’s a LabelOnce eraser included with the labels that comes in handy in its own right, particularly for gamers. Empire Builder “crayon rail” system games can be played on roll-out maps using wet-erase overhead markers. It’s not uncommon for a player to accidentally use a Sharpie instead of a wet-erase marker while playing. The eraser that comes with the LabelOnce labels can erase permanent marker from EB game boards without damaging the game board surface, just as easily as erasing pencil from paper. It’s awesome. Knowing this, you could also “permanently” mark up an EB board with info that you want (e.g., win conditions) or board corrections (e.g., adding the Great Lakes “canals” to an original EB map). Similarly, you can mark up a dry erase board with lines or regions to guide information and then use dry erase markers on top of those marks without disturbing your “guide” marks. Then, if you want to change your dry erase board from (for example) a calendar to a to do list, you use the LabelOnce eraser to erase the guide marks and re-draw. Nifty, huh? (Of course, test this on your surface first, as surface resistance and absorption will vary.) I admit that erasable sharpie and sharpie erasers aren’t anything new these days; I think Sharpie has their own branded version. But, to me, the LabelOnce eraser is like a bonus in an already awesome product.

(Editor’s Note: I’m going to try to make little recommendation posts like this a regular feature of my blog. We’ll see how it goes. :) )

Upcoming movies I want to see

The Other Boleyn Girl (2/29) – Old timey catfight! woohoo!
Semi-Pro (2/29) – I begrudgingly laugh at the Farrell.
Funny Games (3/14) – I’m sickly fascinated by the creative-murder horror genre.
Drillbit Taylor (3/21) – If anything is uncertain on this list, it’s this one, but the premise sounds good.
The Grand (3/21) – Best In Show for poker? I’m there.
Leatherheads (4/4) – Seems like it’ll be a hoot.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (4/18) – Apatow with Marshall from HIMYM…might work. Second most uncertain one on the list.
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (4/25) – I haven’t seen the original yet, but I need to, if only for the NPH cameo.
The Tourist (4/25) – Sounds steamy. :) And I don’t think Hugh Jackman is in it anymore, despite imdb’s faux title.

Awesome skiing!

The weather today was GREAT for skiing. I’m testing out one of the gallery options to show y’all the pics and videos from the trip thus far. We’re in Devil’s Head, Wisconsin with a couple that we game with regularly. They’re awesome and fun, and the skiing has been uberfun. The green run here is *really* long. It exhausts me going down it, but there’s some shorter greens above it that I’ve been using to practice nice carving turn-and-stop methods.

Check it out and hit BACK to get back to here when you’re done. :) Let me know what you think of the gallery format, too!

Gallery

For those who haven’t noticed, the gallery is FUBARed. It got FUBARed during the last upgrade. I’m currently exploring other gallery options, trying to decide if I want to switch to another gallery or if I want to re-install from scratch and start over to see if I can fix it that way.

If you are a person who uses a gallery on your own domain, which one do you use and why? Also, for the readership, is it important to you to be able to download and view the photos I post in full-size original form? I’ve found some really neat galleries that, unfortunately, re-size everything to a more web-friendly size instead of just creating thumbnails.

One time, one time

Wyclef Jean is going to be at our office tomorrow. Anything nifty I should ask him?

Sexy Librarian

I couldn’t figure out a way to adequately describe this in words, so here’s a quick video clip. :)

Abolish the Fat Tax! It’s time to shut up about “the cost of obesity.” by Daniel Engber (of Slate.com)

A favorite segment of this article:

A second study, published in the American Journal of Public Health on Jan. 30, looked at the relationship between body image and health. The authors compared people of similar age, gender, education level, and rates of diabetes and hypertension, and examined how often they reported feeling under the weather over a 30-day period. It turned out that body image had a much bigger impact on their health than body size. In other words, two equally obese women would have very different health outcomes, depending on how they felt about their bodies. Likewise, two women with similar insecurities would have more similar health outcomes, even if one were fat and the other thin.
