I will say this for Indianapolis: it’s a nice walker’s city.
Our hotel is a 10-12 minute walk from the convention center…not bad at all considering I booked pretty late in the game. I signed up for Advanced Civ on Thursday night (meaning I’ll be up all night) and the poker qualifier the following night. Not sure if I will end up doing the poker thing and/or if Scott will want to do it. They improved the process this year. Got my Puffing Billy entry for all-you-can-handle train gaming. The drive in with Greg was mostly uneventful, except for the incident of the cat in the daytime…
I put our foster kitty, Choo-choo, on a plane today. He’s headed to London to be with his person. He’s such a charming kitty. He bewitched the entire cargo department with his cuteness and approachability. But, the process to put him on the plane took about 2 hours, which was 90 minutes longer than I had planned…and Greg politely tolerated this instead of driving off and leaving my ass there. It meant we hit traffic leaving Chicago and were *very* late in getting to eat lunch (around 4pm). But Greg is nifty and cool and did not give me crap over this change of plans. I was very sad to leave Chooch (as I’ve taken to calling him) behind. He did get a “carrier upgrade” though, so he’ll be traveling in comfort and style. (His carrier was deemed too small, but fortunately, the British Airways cargo runs into this all the time, and they have a host of carriers that they trade out when the carrier is too big or too small for the pet.) The cargo lady also gave him a sweatshirt to curl up in, which I put on for awhile and let him rub up against so that it would smell familiar. I packed enough food for him to last a month, I think. 🙂 He won’t get to eat until he arrives in London…sometime around 1am our time, 7am London time. Around 10-11am London time, Ursula will get to pick him up and hug him. 🙂
I had dinner with Roger and Greg. We talked games mostly (duh!). When asked what games I’ve played recently, I drew a blank for awhile…and then I remembered that I play Bridge! Hee. 🙂
